Well, one of my three jobs went out of business this past weekend and I am both relieved and worried. It was my main source of income but was also holding me back from having time for my art and making new things.
I am on the search for more work now but I am graduating next Wednesday and I am really excited and motivated to travel and start being really serious about my art and getting out there. I've got a pretty good head start so I need to take advantage of it.
The Day of the Dead show at Young Blood Gallery and the Wholly Georgia show at Mint went really well!
Currently I have a piece that is up for the "Who are the People in your Neighborhood" show at Young Blood. The night or that opening Carly and I were working the bar and for some reason the whole night was just REALLY strange. We started a tally on a napkin of all the awkward encounters that presented themselves through out the night. I don't know what was in the air and I cant really explain it but it was really funny and entertaining. It was a pretty mellow night though and at the end of it all of us, (Carly, Rebecca, and Stephanie) went and decorated Jens car. On Friday our girl Jennifer eloped with her man so we had to tie beer cars to their bumper and write all over their windows to say so. :) Congratulations to Jennifer Morris Utterback and Kyle Utterback!
Anyways, next on the list is the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts auction Wednesday night. That is going to be my LAST official school duty and I am DONE. I also donated one of my paintings so I hope it gets a good home. :)
I am working on a post card for Mints pin up show this Saturday and brainstorming a new painting for the Mason Murer "Fresh Blood" show in January.
Ive been sick for the past week and a half and I practically have this whole week off so I am hoping that I can re-coop fast and get back to business fast!
Also, my roommate and I decorated our tree yesterday and it is so beautiful. So thankful to not have to work retail this holiday season! Well, excluding Young Blood Boutique, but that isnt really the same to me. :)

Is it time for a breather yet?
The Day of the Dead show was a huge success and Young Blood was packed with people from 7:00pm-10:30pm shoulder to shoulder. Drinks were gone with in the first two hours and many coffins sold that night! I was working the bar with Carly and we couldn't believe how many people there were stuffed into the small gallery space, the rest flooded outside. So proud of everyone from Kennesaw State coming out and attending the show!
Well I'm not done yet. Make sure everyone comes out to see the Wholly Georgia show at Mint this Friday night!

Thank god this month is almost over!
Today I am turning in all my paintings for my senior show. I am so glad because that's one more weight off my shoulders and I am one step closer to this insane month to be over!
Last Sunday I curated the Mask group show at Radial Cafe with the help of my partner Jackson Henry. We did a pretty good job I think. Everything looks great hung up on the walls. It was a very cohesive group of works.
yay!

Today is the last day for submissions for the Mask show I am curating this Sunday at Radial Cafe in Atlanta. Contact me if you have any questions @ Daymelton@gmail.com
I need to finish my coffin next week for Young Blood Gallery's Day of the Dead show AND tweek my paintings for my senior show.
Yesterday I got a new job at this sports bar in Buckhead, not exactly my scene at all, but its going to be good money. Temporary until I can get some money saved up and find a better full time job after December. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The only good thing is I will have most of my days off because the shifts all start at 5:00 pm. And I will only have to work 3-4 nights a week to make twice as much as I do now working 30 hours a week. Plus, no taxes out of tips, I am tired of giving the government half my paychecks. This job will give me more time to focus on my own art. :)
Toodles.

A Brock Wedding in Vegas!
Congratulations to my new favorite married pair, the Brocks!!
Justin Brock and Kaley Baker were married at the Little White Chaple on Saturday, October 15th at approximately 7:00pm. All the boys were crying and all the girls were smiling. I wish them all the love in the world and I think they will make each other very happy for years and years to come! I just want to thank you for carefully selecting me as one of your bridesmaids, I know you had a few other choices.... Love you guys!!
I am still catching up on sleep from Las Vegas. From Thursday to Sunday I got 12 hours of sleep total. I have been sleeping for the past 2 days and I am having a harder time then I thought getting back into the swing of things. Sleep is the only thing I can think of right now. Vegas one a blast. And I won $160 playing black jack! Woohoo!

Upcoming Events!
Hey ya'll,
Well, I just want to say Murphy's Law can suck it. This month has managed to be one big giant ball of stress. But after this month I will have a little more time to breath. I have some work in a few upcoming shows so I am pretty excited about that. And I am officially an employee of Young Blood Gallery. :) Stoked.
November 1, 2011 is my "Senior Exhibition"- Group show @The Sturgis Gallery, Kennesaw State Universtiy.
November 5, 2011 is "Day of the Dead"- Group show @Young Blood Gallery.
November 11, 2011 is Wholly Georgia: A Look at the Effects on Southern Religious Culture @Mint Gallery.
December 3, 2011 is "Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood?"- Group show @Young Blood Gallery.
I am on my way to Las Vegas tonight for one of my best friends weddings at the Little White Chapel. With that, getting sick, and my boyfriend being hospitalized for 4 days I am going to have to play some MAJOR catch up when I get home and kick it into high gear because I have been dragging ass this month. Which, was not part of my original plan.
VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!

Its been a while. Still in school, graduating in the Fall and I am ready for my senior show and getting out there. I am still with my boyfriend Brandt from California. I think the last time I made a post he was living there, well we couldn't be away from each other any longer so he moved back.:) I got a dog named cricket and he has pretty much completed me and now I am a crazy lady who is obsessed with her dog.... you'd know why if you knew him.
