Upcoming Events!

Hey ya'll,
Well, I just want to say Murphy's Law can suck it. This month has managed to be one big giant ball of stress. But after this month I will have a little more time to breath. I have some work in a few upcoming shows so I am pretty excited about that. And I am officially an employee of Young Blood Gallery. :) Stoked.

November 1, 2011 is my "Senior Exhibition"- Group show @The Sturgis Gallery, Kennesaw State Universtiy.
November 5, 2011 is "Day of the Dead"- Group show @Young Blood Gallery.
November 11, 2011 is Wholly Georgia: A Look at the Effects on Southern Religious Culture @Mint Gallery.

December 3, 2011 is "Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood?"- Group show @Young Blood Gallery.

p.s. can you guys "like" my facebook artist page?

I am on my way to Las Vegas tonight for one of my best friends weddings at the Little White Chapel. With that, getting sick, and my boyfriend being hospitalized for 4 days I am going to have to play some MAJOR catch up when I get home and kick it into high gear because I have been dragging ass this month. Which, was not part of my original plan.

VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!

Open Call to Artists!

This is a show I am curating at Radial Cafe in Atlanta at the end of this month! Everyone check it out!!!!

Time:
Sunday, October 23 at 6:00pm - November 20 at 9:30pm

Location:
Radial Cafe
1530 Dekalb Avenue NE # G
Atlanta, GA
Info:
This is an open call for artists at Radial Cafe in Atlanta
Curated by Dayna Melton and Jackson Henry.

You can submit up to two pieces of art relating to the "mask" theme (which in all honesty is VERY OPEN TO INTERPRETATION, so do that voodoo that you do)

Radial Café is hosting an art exhibition for KSU students along with other artists. Masks are typically worn for protection, disguise, performance, or entertainment. They have been used since antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes. We are looking for any art relating to masks. It can be interpreted anyway you’d like. Be creative! Drawing, painting, photography, and print will all be accepted.

There are a few small spaces for the exhibition of 3D artworks in the café. So, if you intend to submit 3D artworks please contact Dayna Melton at Dayna_mite@hotmail.com

Submissions:
Artists may submit a maximum of (2) artworks no larger than 4’x4’. The maximum price for all works: $300.00. Artists will retain 100% of all profits from any sales of their works.
Artworks must be delivered to the Painting Studio, (Visual Arts Bldg. Rm. 112) on Friday, Oct. 21, 10:00 – 3:00. We will install the show at Radial Café on Sunday, October 23rd. If you are an Atlanta artist you can email me for a drop off date at Radial Café on a designated alternate date. All artworks must be READY TO HANG when dropped off. If your artwork is unframed it must at least be matted and have clips for easy hanging since we will be hanging artworks from wires suspended from the ceiling. We are not allowed to drill holes in the walls for pictures.

All artworks must have a taped piece of paper on the back containing the following info:
Artist:
Title:
Medium:
H: x W”:
Price:
Contact Info: (email address and telephone #.)

For any questions regarding the show or submissions please DO NOT contact Radial Café. Please contact either Dayna Melton at Dayna_mite@hotmail.com or Jackson Henry at Jackson@jphren.com
P.s. Radial Cafe is not responsible for any damages.

Information about an opening reception will be added soon and a message will be send to everyone regarding this.

OH and while your oot and aboot, go to Radial and check out Julianne Trew's work up until October 15th!(it's pretty badass).

Its been a while. Still in school, graduating in the Fall and I am ready for my senior show and getting out there. I am still with my boyfriend Brandt from California. I think the last time I made a post he was living there, well we couldn't be away from each other any longer so he moved back.:) I got a dog named cricket and he has pretty much completed me and now I am a crazy lady who is obsessed with her dog.... you'd know why if you knew him.

shush it up for me.

Finished the semester with 3 A's and a B. I am SO stoked that I made an A in my painting class. I was so frustrated with my professor for always giving me B's and I was loosing faith. But in the end he stuck to his word and gave me a better grade then I made during the semester. I was pretty surprised because I honestly thought he was just bullshitting me. Ended up being a pretty good semester. Now, next semester is going to be another story. If I thought I was a hermit this semester, next semester my life outside of school and work is going to be completely non existent. But it's okay, after next semester I am almost finished. I'm in it to win it!!

Currently I am trying to get some of my art work into three shows:
Kennesaw State University 28th annual Juried Art Exhibition. The opening is actually on my birthday, January 27th. I think it will be up till February.
Rome International Juried Exhibition in Rome, GA. It isn't until the Spring I believe but I went ahead and submitted a few things early.
Dogwood Regional Fine Arts Festival in Knoxville, TN. This festival isn't until the Spring also. But I am already preparing stuff to sent in.
So I think that if I submit to all three of these I should expect to get into at least one of them.

If anyone is interested in buying any art or commissioning some art for me to create please let me know. Mama needs to pay off her credit cards..
